Local Advice Centres

The Trust funds a number of organisations across England, Wales and Scotland to provide a wide range of specialist fuel debt advice services including:

  • Budget planning
  • Benefit / income maximisation checks
  • Energy supplier / tariff switching exercises
  • Resolution of energy debt problems
  • Negotiating with energy suppliers
  • Completing applications to British Gas Energy Trust and other grant giving schemes, e.g. Warm Home Discount and ECO schemes and energy companies’ Priority Services Registers
  • Desktop Home Energy Efficiency Surveys and specific energy efficiency advice
  • Generalist advice on subjects including housing, employment and discrimination, helping to overcome other barriers to financial well-being.

Auriga Services Ltd

Our project combines energy and water home surveys together with an income maximisation service to help lift households out of fuel and water poverty. Our service has significant impacts on an individual’s finances and health and well-being, enabling them to make informed choices going forward and sustaining budgets.

We help manage our client's utility debts, support them switching energy tariffs, offer energy efficiency advice, income maximisation and budget support with our project, East End Energy Fit. We target support to the elderly and vulnerable people with mental health issues across London, in particularly those living in Tower Hamlets.

Our project aims to reach out to those most in need across Wales by delivering energy advice, managing debts, income maximisation, support finding the cheapest tariff and improving health and well-being to those experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty. The service we provide across Wales targets people who are vulnerable to ill-health, living in cold homes or have unaffordable fuel bills.

We aim to provide advice to people of Manchester and beyond who are experiencing difficulties with their energy costs or who are at risk of fuel poverty. Our project offers advice on a wide range of energy related issues including: dealing with fuel debt, accessing grants for replacement boilers/energy efficiency white goods, energy saving, support finding the cheapest tariff and income maximisation.

CA Northumberland

We provide advice and assistance to households via the telephone and face to face where a person is suffering from fuel poverty, or where their health will be negatively affected by a cold home. Our aim is to provide advice to support vulnerable fuel poor households throughout Northumberland through income maximisation, reducing fuel costs through switching, membership of community oil schemes and fuel efficiency savings.

CA Preston

We provide help and assistance to individuals and households considered to be fuel poor across the Preston and Lancashire area. We offer debt, fuel and energy efficiency advice, offering budgeting support and help individuals switch to a cheaper tariff. Our project also delivers energy efficiency advice in community languages including Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Gujarat and Polish.

The service we provide offers support and advice to individuals and families experiencing, or at risk of, fuel poverty and who are vulnerable during severe winter weather across North Yorkshire. We offer debt advice, support switching tariffs, budgeting advice, income maximisation and some energy efficiency measures to help lift the most vulnerable out of fuel poverty and improve their health and well-being.

Community Law Service

Our specialist advice team provide a Fuel Poverty advice service which includes benefits advice and income maximisation, debt and energy efficiency advice and access to low level energy efficiency measures. Services can be accessed at community centres across Northamptonshire. We support people with low incomes who are experiencing physical or mental health problems or who are disabled, but also those at risk of becoming unwell due to cold homes or financial problems.

Energy Project Plus

Working with a wide range of community partners, we support vulnerable people across Liverpool at community locations and in their own homes to reduce their fuel bill, identify the best tariffs, and improve their energy efficiency, as well as accessing support to ensure they are receiving financial assistance where appropriate.
