- Budget planning and benefit / income maximisation checks
- Energy supplier / tariff switching exercises and resolution of energy debt problems
- Negotiating with energy suppliers
- Completing grant applications to British Gas Energy Trust and other helpful schemes
- Tailored energy efficiency advice and devices, and white goods

Energy Advice Pop-ups
Each year, the Trust partners with the Post Office, British Gas and local community-based charities to offer free, drop-in events across Britain. At these events:
- Regardless of your energy supplier, speak to a trained money and energy advisor from a local charity for support on subjects like budget planning, benefits and income maximisation checks and energy queries. They can also book you in for further appointments, or signpost to additional support.
- British Gas representatives will be on hand to provide information about British Gas support schemes, payment plan options and help understanding your bills.
- Pick up some free energy saving devices and energy efficiency tips.
Better Off Calculator
The Better Off Calculator is a tool to help you better understand your income and outgoings, and to provide access to any support you may be entitled too. By entering your household details it can help identify benefits eligibility and local and national support schemes, as well as providing budgeting advice.
