Money Matters – Case Study

‘Funded by British Gas Energy Trust, Money Matters, Glasgow is able to provide a skilled team of Energy advisers offering relevant and holistic advice to help individuals and families who are struggling to pay energy bills and reduce energy costs. We look at maximising income, reducing expenditure and deal with debt all to complement moving to cheaper tariffs, changing supplier, obtaining grants to settle fuel debts and securing ongoing help to top up pre-payment meters.

We can help anyone in Scotland and throughout Covid-19 we have seen the levels of aid required increase significantly as energy costs rise due to being at home more and with the impact of furlough and redundancies bringing loss of income.

We have offered help, on behalf of BGET, with free vouchers for pre-payment meters for several years but we were delighted that BGET have acted, when they too felt that need would be even greater this year to prevent hardship and self-disconnection, and have managed to source more funds for this venture enabling us to support more energy customers. It is particularly gratifying that you don’t need to be a British/Scottish Gas customer to access the help. Thank you BGET, we know our project really does make a difference to people’s lives.
