Gary Booker, British Gas Energy Trust Trustee and Managing Director of Centrica Home, shares his thoughts on how the customer support package available from British Gas, and the strengthened partnership with the Trust, is helping reach more vulnerable households than ever before.

“No one should have to choose between heating their home and other daily necessities. For many people up and down the UK, however, this is their reality. As the cost of living crisis may have eased for some – for many the pressures remain.

“During this time, I’m proud of the way we’ve continued to step up and work with others, to be there for those who need it. Towards this, our £140 million energy support package, has been pivotal. It’s the largest voluntary package provided by any energy company and it’s not only enabled us to create a first-of-its-kind ‘You Pay: We Pay’ initiative, where we match energy payments made by customers in or at risk of fuel poverty, but it’s empowered us to go further and faster in our partnership with the British Gas Energy Trust.

“This has meant additional grant availability, more accessible energy advice at the heart of communities via Pop-Ups and the funded organisations, and stronger strides towards tackling fuel poverty through positive policy and regulatory engagement.”
