British Gas Energy Trust has today announced the appointment of three new Trustees, Matt Dronfield, James Banks MBE and Ian McKetty.

  • Matt Dronfield is Director of Advice Services and Managing Director of Debt Free Advice at Toynbee Hall. Matt brings significant expertise in strategic leadership, governance, digital transformation and delivering high-quality advice services, alongside a strong track record of improving access to support for those who need it most. 
  • James Banks MBE has over 25 years’ experience in the charity sector and is currently Chief Executive of Funders Together. James has dedicated his career to tackling poverty and financial exclusion, building partnerships across the public, private and philanthropic sectors, and driving collaboration to create greater impact.
  • Ian McKetty is Director of Technology & Data at Nacro and has held senior technology leadership roles across the charity, higher education and public sectors. Ian brings extensive experience in digital transformation, AI, data, information governance and organisational strategy.

As British Gas Energy Trust enters its strategic transition year, the organisation is focused on evolving how it delivers support to meet changing need. During this period, the Trust is funding 32 organisations across England, Scotland and Wales to provide free, independent energy and money advice, while also exploring new and innovative approaches to maximise its impact. By strengthening its board, investing in more sustainable solutions and developing new ways to reach and support people in fuel poverty, the Trust aims to create lasting change for households facing financial hardship.
