British Gas Energy Trust has appointed Maff Potts as its new Chief Executive Officer, as the charity enters its next phase of supporting households experiencing fuel poverty and financial hardship across Great Britain.

Since 2004, the Trust has invested almost £230 million in supporting more than 830,000 people across Great Britain through energy debt grants, money and energy advice, and funding for frontline organisations. The Trust continues to play a vital role in helping households navigate financial hardship and access practical support.

Maff joins the Trust from Camerados, where he served as Director, bringing extensive experience in community-led social impact, public service and building partnerships that improve outcomes for people and communities. Prior to Camerados, Maff led several organisations working at the sharp end of social justice and in Government managing funding programmes for those experiencing homelessness, domestic violence and addiction.

His appointment comes at a pivotal time for the Trust as it continues to evolve its money and energy advice programmes, strengthen its partnership and outreach programmes and maximise the impact of its support for households experiencing financial hardship.

His experience at Camerados reflects his passion for empowering communities and developing inclusive approaches to tackling complex social challenges, closely aligning with the Trust’s mission and values.
