British Gas Energy Trust partners with Rightsteps to bring accessible wellbeing tools to the forefront
The British Gas Energy Trust has partnered with Rightsteps, a certified social enterprise and business for good, to bring a tailored wellbeing platform to those seeking support from the Trust.
For the first time, the Trust will be providing wellbeing support directly from its website; previously clients would only be able to receive this from one of over 45 funded money and energy advice projects across Britain. With this platform, the Trust hopes to support clients for whom rising energy costs are not the only problem affecting their wellbeing.
Originally providing self-guided support and online CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) sessions to improve mental, physical, and behavioural wellbeing around a range of topics, the Rightsteps platform has also added specialist financial wellbeing advice, aligning closely with the Trust mission to empower households to develop their money management skills and improve their wellbeing.
The introduction of this platform helps support the Trusts holistic approach to helping households. Trust clients are supported in the short term by energy debt write-off grants and emergency fuel vouchers, with ongoing support offered in the form of funded advice projects and online money management tools like the Bounce Back Checklist, Better Off Calculator and Lightning Reach portal, and now continual wellbeing support.
Jessica Taplin, CEO of British Gas Energy Trust said:
“We know that worrying about finances can have a huge impact on mental health, with 93% of people supported by the Trust in 21/22 reporting being stressed about unpaid bills. We have partnered with Rightsteps to increase access to their vital self-guided tools, online courses and one-off support to improve the mental, physical and financial wellbeing of those who are struggling.”
David Lewis, Principal of Rightsteps said:
“We are really pleased to be working with British Gas Energy Trust to support the work they are doing in the wellbeing space. Our expertise and support is tailored to the needs of their beneficiaries with the view to offering evidence based, 24/7 support.”
